Otsego Land Trust Welcomes New Board Member: Allen Ruffles!

“Land is an important and finite resource and I’d like to help conserve it for future generations.”

Allen Ruffles, Otsego County native, joins the Board of Otsego Land Trust. As a lifelong resident and public servant, Allen brings a wealth of knowledge and insight regarding the region and its communities, along with a great deal of business acumen. OLT looks forward to working with Allen to better understand and meet the needs and interests of its diverse constituents.

Allen Ruffles is an Otsego County native with a longstanding interest in conservation and environmental issues and an abiding commitment to the community. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Geosciences. He started his career in education, then moved to insurance and banking. He currently serves at the Otsego County Treasurer.

Joe Homburger, who brought the nomination forward, is enthusiastic about the newest board member. “Allen has a deep commitment to the quality of life in the Otsego region. We are glad to have him contributing his energy and vision to the board of Otsego Land Trust.”

Board chair Marjorie Kellogg announced the newest addition to the twelve-member board after the February 26 meeting.

Otsego Land Trust, established in 1988, is a not-for-profit organization that conserves the natural heritage of farmland, forests, and waterways throughout the region. Through conservation easements and direct ownership, Otsego Land Trust helps to sustain rural communities, promote public health, support wildlife diversity, and inspire the human spirit.
