Two New Faces on the Board of Directors
Otsego Land Trust’s all-volunteer Board of Directors continues to expand with the election of two new Directors this spring.
Connie Young
Connie Young of Van Hornesville is a familiar face, having helped to organize and direct some of Otsego Land Trust’s public events. Connie and her husband Ken Richards raise Piedmontese beef cattle on Otsquago Creek Farm, a property that they placed under a conservation easement with Otsego Land Trust in 2015. Connie’s diverse experience in event planning, financial management, farming and the Merchant Marine will help to strengthen Otsego Land Trust’s connection to working lands and the agricultural community.
Dr. “Chip” Cotton
Dr. “Chip” Cotton is an Associate Professor in the Fisheries, Wildlife, and Environmental Science Department at SUNY Cobleskill, as well as a Research Scientist at the Biological Field Station in Cooperstown. Chip and his wife Heidi Geisz moved to Cooperstown eight years ago from Florida, drawn to the natural beauty of the region. Dr. Cotton’s research has a particular focus on Otsego Lake fisheries and monitoring the spread of invasive fishes in the Susquehanna and Hudson River watersheds. Chip advises on student research projects each year, many of which are dedicated to the conservation of regional aquatic resources.
