CANCELED: Plein Air Painting at Parslow Preserve

  • Parslow Road Preserve 127 Parslow Road Hartwick, NY, 13348 United States (map)

Due to intense deer fly swarms at Parslow Preserve,  and a high heat index, we sadly need to cancel Plein Air Painting this weekend.

Artists and aspiring artists are invited to our third annual Plein Air Painting Weekend. Plein Air Painting at Parslow Rd Preserve offers artists a special opportunity to capture the diverse landscape of beautiful Parslow Road Preserve while enjoying the company of other like-minded artists.

Photos are from our 2023 event last year

2024 Painting Times:

Saturday (7/13): 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Sunday (7/14): 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Registered artists will have the opportunity to exhibit and sell works created during the event in the gallery of the Cooperstown Art Association from August to September.

Parslow Road is located on the northern edge of Oaksville along Oaks Creek, just outside the village of Fly Creek. The property surrounds approximately 86 acres of diverse landscape and was once home to a tree nursery. Meandering trails pass through a wildflower-filled field, a creek, over bog bridges, through hemlock groves, and past multiple bird habitats. Paths are mostly mowed and flat.

Bonus: we will have golf carts to help transport people to their desired painting spot!

People of all abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Otsego Land Trust is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving natural resources throughout the Upper Susquehanna watershed. Parslow Preserve is one of six sites open for low-impact recreation including hiking, birding, and exploration.

Cost: $60 (covers continental breakfast and box lunches both days + instructor's fee). Please send checks to Otsego Land Trust, PO Box 173, Cooperstown, NY 13326.

We are so appreciative of Golden Artist Colors, Inc., who has provided paint samples for all artists attending!

This event is partly paid for by a grant from Otsego County Government - we deeply appreciate their funding assistance.

Please let us know you are coming - sign up below.
