Learn about Conservation Easements (Webinar)

  • Online United States (map)

Join us for an introduction to what you and your clients may need to evaluate or consider a conservation easement. The easement is a way to protect land in perpetuity while still retaining private ownership.

This webinar is geared toward attorneys, real estate professionals, tax accountants, and town officials. We will be discussing how conservation easements work, including tax implications and incentives, estate planning, and land use planning.

Why should this matter to you?

Conservation easements are an important resource for property owners, community members and town officials. Learn about the ways you can offer insight and valuable added financial and emotional services to the clients or community you serve.

Presenters:

May Leinhart, Land Protection Manager at Otsego Land Trust will be guiding the presentation.

May Leinhart manages the conservation easement program at Otsego Land Trust. May is originally from the Southeast, where she grew up on a working cotton farm, studied English at the University of the South at Sewanee, and obtained a Masters in Geography and Planning at Appalachian State University. May has served on staff for conservation organizations in Tennessee, New Mexico, South Carolina, and now New York. She has experience with conservation easements, rural land use planning, and state and federal funding for conservation projects. She worked with her family to place a conservation easement on their historic farmland in Mississippi, and she enjoys helping landowners and families in the Leatherstocking region through the same process.

Guest presenters will be announced soon!
